What kind of grocery bags do you use? Are you a 'green' shopper and bring your own bags to the market? I've thought about purchasing some Publix reusable bags, but then talk myself out of it. I've thought of crocheting a few market bags, but then realize I really don't have the desire, nor the time, to make.
I used to get paper bags. I thought more could be packed into them. Plus, they were perfect scrap catchers when I had monthly crops at my house. Now, I chose plastic, when asked. I line bathroom garbage cans with them. I have one hanging in my van to collect travel trash. Jacob uses them to dump kitty litter in. Years ago, I would put stinky diapers in them. (Thought: is there any other kind of diaper than a stinky one?)
A while ago, I purchased a bag holder/dispenser at IKEA. It is sitting in my garage, not hung on the wall, as it should be, and is....umm....empty. Instead, I have a HUGE commerical size garbage bag full of plastic bags. I have grand ideas of bringing them up to Publix to recycle. Although, I heard that the bags need to be individual and not inside each other. (This probably isn't true....but a good excuse, nonetheless).
Random, I know....but you were warned.....

I converted to the Publix reusable bags this year and they have saved me a lot of plastic bag build up. Of course, it helps to remember to take the bags into the store. Don't feel bad about how many bags you have. Once, I filled up the whole back of my van (and then the recycle bin at publix) with plastic bags. Pure craziness!
They make great packaging material when you need to mail a package. We keep ours in a giant pretzel container under the sink.
We use TuckerBags - fun designs and really convenient to store and reuse. We found these bags at Reusable Grocery Bags site. Note - they have a 5% coupon discount (grocery) which makes going green even sweeter.
I'm totally going to that site. I always feel bad just throwing the bags away. I save them until I'm overloaded. I never used them all. Cat litter, bathroom trash and dirty diapers(although not so much now that the kids are potty trained) are what they get used for the most.....
I do have reusable bags, but I only use them if I'm at Aldi or if I'm running into the local store for an item or two. It's nice that they double as shopping bags.
Give yourself a reward for taking the bags away for recycling. Or you can announce it to everyone eight or ten times--you know, like men do when they pick up their own socks.
